1. VISIT AND VOLUNTEERING ACTIVITY

This year we did two Visit and Volunteering Activities:

i) 07TH JUNE, 2017

KOICA ALUMNI KENYA CHAPTER(KAKC) Executive, KAKC Alumni members, KOICA Kenya Office/Maternal and Child Health Staff (MCH) went to Isinya in Kajiado County to volunteer through KOICA MCH medical Camp. MCH Team led the whole exercise that mimicked a real hospital, with our members and officials joining medical staff from Kajiado County Government. The medical camp was attended by more than 500 local residents where they were tested, treated and given medicine. We thank very much H.E. Ambassador of South Korea to Kenya, Senator KIM Moo Sung from South Korea, and KOICA Kenya Office Country Director - Ms Hyeyoung SHIN for joining us during this activity.

ii) 14TH JULY, 2017

KOICA ALUMNI KENYA CHAPTER(KAKC) Executive, KAKC Alumni members, KOICA Kenya Office staff visited and volunteered in Oloibortoto Primary School in Magadi, Kajiado County. The school lacked safe drinking water hence the pupils were suffering a lot with frequent outbreak of waterborne diseases. We therefore did a water project for the school, bought for them some furniture, and planted some trees.

ACTIVITIES IN 2016

1. 05TH KAKC ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The 5th KAKC Annual General Meeting was held on 11th November, 2016 from 9.00am
at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Nairobi. The AGM included exchange of culture between Kenya and South Korea.

KAKC elections were also held in an independent and transparent way. We elected four new officials into the Executive Board.

2. ENVIRONMENT CONSERVATION ACTIVITY

7TH OCTOBER, 2016

The event entailed carrying out an environment conservation activity in Longisa Referral Hospital, Bommet County. KAKC Executive, Alumni and KOICA Kenya Country Director and staff planted indigeneous trees in the whole hospital compound. We also visited and toured the hospital, and talked with some staff about KAKC.

3. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE SHARING

2ND SEPTEMBER, 2016

This activity was held to impact and transfer knowledge earned in South Korea by KAKC Alumni and act as a mentoring tool especially to students’ in academic institutions. We bought new computers for Tala Girls’ Secondary School, Machakos County. The computers are being used by the students and teachers.  We also visited the school in partnership with KOICA Kenya Office to mentor the girls in our program dubbed “Better Girls Initiative”. KAKC Alumni accompanied us and we all talked to the girls about our knowledge and experience in South Korea.

25TH AUGUST, 2016

The knowledge sharing program was also held in Catholic University of East Africa - Tangaza University College) during which presentations was made by KAKC fellows and also KOICA Kenya Office to the University students and Professors. KAKC Alumni did capacity building on knowledge and experience earned while training in Korea and how they are using this back home.

4. VISIT AND VOLUNTEERING ACTIVITY

01ST JULY, 2016

KOICA ALUMNI KENYA CHAPTER(KAKC) Executive, Alumni members, and KOICA Kenya staff went to Tumaini Integrated Primary School in Molo, Nakuru County to volunteer and donate perimeter fence, furniture, food and talk to the school community about our work.

31ST MAY, 2016

KAKC officials joined H.E. Park Geun-hye, President of the Republic of South Korea during her state visit to Kenya at the launch of Korea AID Project held at the KICC in Nairobi, Kenya. Much thanks to Korean Ambassador to Kenya and KOICA Kenya Country Director for the invitation.

ACTIVITIES IN 2015

04TH KAKC ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (AGM)

13TH NOVEMBER, 2015

This year's AGM was held at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya from 8.00am and included Culture Exchange. The chief guest was Korean Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Mr. Kwon Young Dae. The KOICA Country Director, Mr KIM Eunsub and Mr Simon Angote of Ministry of Devolution also graced the occassion. All Alumni members dressed in traditional attire. There was display of Kenyan and Korean cultural food and items.

All KAKC Alumni members who have not paid are requested to deposit in the KAKC Account at Cooperative BANK, Cooperative House Branch, Account Number 01134420878800 annual subscription fees of Kshs 1000. For those who have not registered to be alumni members deposit Kshs 1500.

24th OCTOBER, 2015

Visit and Volunteering Activity at Ng'undu Primary School, Ruai, Nairobi County

KOICA ALUMNI KENYA CHAPTER(KAKC) Executive, some Alumni members, and KOICA Kenya officials visited this school in 2012 to volunteer and donate reading materials to the needy pupils. To strengthen and build on this relationship with the school, we visited again on 24th October, 2015 to know how the school is fairing, talk to them and donate more education materials.

1. KOICA Kenya Office and KAKC Officials visited Korrompoi Primary School in Kajiado County to reward best KCPE pupils in 2014.


2. KOICA Kenya Office, KAKC Officials and Korrompoi Primary School pupils and teachers toured Hwan Sung Industries Ltd,

a Korean furniture Factory in Msa Road, Kenya
