KOICA Kenya Office has been a good friend of Kenya over the years. Since 2008, we have worked together to help Kenya in its development agenda, especially in the areas of Water, Education, and Health. Currently, in line with the Big 4 Agenda and Vision 2030, our support initiatives in Kenya are now also targeting development of education and water supply with a view to providing opportunities for economic empowerment and self-fulfillment as a whole.
KOICA has continued to offer year by year training courses with the aim of supporting the human resource development of Kenya. By 2018, KOICA had invited over 1087 Kenyan personnel to Korea for training and sharing of experiences. This past year, we have offered more areas of training in capacity building, including short course fellowship programs in Health, Public Procurement, and Public Sector Productivity. This year, KOICA is also sponsoring more than ten applicants for Master’s Degree programs in South Korea for a period of seventeen months in different areas including Industry and Trade Policy; Urban Development Policy; Fisheries; Community Development; Finance and Tax Policy; and Global Education Leadership. By strategically expanding post-management activities through the KOICA Alumni, the effects of these training programs have also been enhanced and networks facilitated. This support plan has allowed KOICA to provide systematic and coherent assistance to trainees who have returned to their home countries. KOICA Alumni Kenya Chapter (KAKC), whose members are by virtue of Korean goodwill ambassadors, has gone a long way in providing a bridge between Korea and Kenya. This ‘bridging’ role KAKC plays in the relations between Korea and Kenya can therefore not be undermined.
“I would like to appreciate KAKC on their continued support, and also congratulate them on the activities they have carried out, including the launch of this website – an initiative that will highlight the continued growth of KAKC. Hongera!”
Our goal is to “Leave No One Behind” in the global village. And as we soar hand in hand to new heights in our partnership, we will endeavor to continue sharing and utilizing Korea’s know-how in development, in the same spirit.
