  • Location: Kenya School of Government (KSG), Lower Kabete
  • Partners: KOICA Kenya Office and the KOICA Alumni Kenya Chapter (KAKC) Nairobi Sub-Group

The KOICA Alumni Kenya Chapter (KAKC) Nairobi Sub-Group, with generous funding support from the KOICA Kenya Office, carried out a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative at the Kenya School of Government (KSG), Lower Kabete campus. The outreach focused on nurturing talent, dignity and overall well-being for the KSG Queens Football Team.

Equipping champions on and off the field

The KSG Queens are resilient young women aged 18 to 25 from neighbouring communities — including young mothers, job seekers and students balancing family responsibilities with sports and professional aspirations.

To support their athletic development and readiness, KAKC handed over a comprehensive package of sports equipment and player welfare supplies:

  • Sports and training gear: printed match jerseys, kits, soccer bibs, soccer balls, training cones and markers.
  • Safety and welfare support: fully equipped first aid kits, personal hygiene and sanitary products for players, and support packages for the mothers on the team.

Promoting health and preventive care: Mama Kijana

Recognising that sporting excellence goes hand in hand with community health, the programme featured an interactive health session, “Mama Kijana: Mafunzo ya Afya kwa Mama Vijana.” It was facilitated by KAKC National Organising Secretary Ms. Diana Chebet, a healthcare specialist at Kenyatta National Hospital, and covered:

  • Essential hand hygiene and infection prevention.
  • The importance of timely clinic visits and routine child immunisation.
  • Responsible use of medicines and protecting families against antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

Leadership messages

Addressing the athletes, KAKC President Ms. Angela Mukiri encouraged the team to embody discipline, strive for professional excellence and serve as positive role models in their communities.

Speaking on behalf of KSG Director-General Prof. Nura Mohamed, FCPA Andrew Rori (Director, KSG Nairobi Campus) expressed deep appreciation to KOICA Kenya and KAKC for their commitment to empowering young women and fostering institutional collaboration.

The initiative drew strong representation:

  • KOICA Kenya Office: Programme Officers Hyunseok Kim and James Gatonye.
  • KAKC Nairobi Sub-Group Executive: Ann Ndolo (Chairperson), Job Nyambane (Secretary) and John Gathatwa (Organising Secretary).
  • KAKC National Executive Committee: Ms. Angela Mukiri (President & Executive Director), Winnie Musyoki (Deputy Treasurer) and Diana Chebet (Organising Secretary).

Building sustainable community futures

Through engagements like the KSG Queens CSR initiative, KAKC continues to show how expertise gained in Korea and international partnerships can be turned into practical, grassroots impact across Kenya. By bringing together gender empowerment, youth development and community health, the Chapter remains dedicated to building resilient, self-sustaining communities.

KAKC sincerely thanks the KSG management, team coaches, players and alumni volunteers who made the day a success. We wish the KSG Queens victory and growth in their upcoming tournaments!
